Dare to compare 1999 to 1997 vintages
Thursday, July 18, 2002, 6:00 p.m.
Sold out event
This event was hosted by the Crichton's under ideal weather
conditions as it was held outside in their beautiful
garden. It was one of those rare warm evenings in Calgary.
Our thanks go out to Tim Hendrickson of The Wine Shop who presented
the wines in a fashion that allowed everyone to participate.
Here are the tasting notes:
 |
"The 1999 Pichon Baron has a very lovely tasting wine. Full-bodied and very velvety, with a long fruity aftertaste." |
| "The 1997 & 1999 Chateau Lafite Rothschild did not gather any fans." |
 |
 |
"1999 Dauzac was clearly the most international in style." |
| "The 1997 Chasse Spleen had beautifully ripe fruit, balanced, elegant and polished.
This was a real winner among the group."
|
 |
 |
"The 1999 Gruaud-Larose had wondeful fruit with a complex taste. This was the group's favourite wine of the evening." |
The evening ended with an assortment of paté, cheeses,
and bread and a wondeful dessert.
"We were all winners at this summer evening wine tasting,
even if the wines of 1997 vs. 1999 was a tie."
